I think a 94-04 Mustang 8.8 is a decent choice unless you want the 31 splined axles and 3.73s, then the explorer is a better choice. Later I went with the 2001 bullit wheels and then switched to the 94-04 axle / brake package. The 8.8 in my car came out of an 89 Mustang, then I swapped the axles and brakes from my nephews 89 T bird and installed fox 10 hole wheels. At this point its easier to just use 94-04 calipers and rotors and mounting brackets. If you do a 5 lug conversion, then you can use 94-04 Mustang axles, but then your faced with finding the right disks to fit. If you use the T bird wheels or Fox body stock wheels, the tires will fit in the wheel housings just fine. The axles are 3/4" longer to accomodate the disk brakes. As others have said the housings are the same for fox bodies and T birds.
